From cult VHS to queer cinema history.

Founded in 1985 as Phoenix Distributors by Michael J. Shoel and Donald Zelkowski, the company began near Hollywood & Vine with low-budget horror. After relocating to Tucson in 1994, Ariztical found its name—and its calling championing gay and LGBTQ+ independent film.

1985

Phoenix Distributors is founded near Hollywood & Vine.

1994

The company relocates to Tucson and becomes Ariztical.

Kizuna

The first gay male anime released on DVD in the United States.
